What makes a good designer, in your opinion?
I think a good designer understand the purpose, the meaning and the people they are designing for. The design can be cool and all but if the audience doesn’t get it, the designer fails doing their job.
What do you do when you are not designing?
I have a healthy, displined lifestyle. You will see me sweating at a gym, learning new cooking reciepies, chilling in a park or by the water, watching shows, playing Nintendo Switch or wondering at a museum. I'm a huge beyhive, and I manage a Chinese Beyoncé fan account on the side!
There is skill, and there’s talent. What is a natural talent you’ve always had?
I’m pretty in tune with music, especially with rhythm. Some of my friends say I’m a good singer. I probably will be if I had proper vocal training. I did break my voice on stage in my high school singing competition :( But that didn’t stop me from having shower concerts.
If you could close your eyes and transport yourself anywhere at this moment, where would you go?
Golden Beach in Australia. I’ve been there once when I was 12 as a tourist and I still remember how blue the ocean was and how soft the sand was. Then I’ll go to Haleakalā National Park Summit in Maui to stand above clouds.
Do you have a favorite thing to do?
Yes, definitely not design. I always love to visit the happiest place on earth. You know where that is, yes?
What are you into recently?
After spending 540 hours in Animal Crossing and storing all the happy memories I have (Dream Code: DA-0225-5440-6768), I moved onto deepen my understanding of Chinese cooking, interior design and fashion.
What keeps you up at night?
Before, it was “Metaverse,” which was dead by 2026 after 5 years. Thank god. Now the focus has been shifted to AI, about which I have mixed feelings. On one hand, AI could be a great tool to accelerate workflow or research, but in the wrong hands — driven by profits — it could ruin humanilty. I always make sure I do my part to prevent things from geting worse, I hope you do too. If we don’t save ourselves, who will?
